It can be a little overwhelming to go shopping for a memory foam bed and mattress. There is such a wide array of terminology and choices that it can be a real challenge. To help make the choice easier it is important to remember three key things: temperature sensitivity, thickness of the memory foam, and density.
Having some knowledge about each of these can help you choose the memory foam product that is best for you. Not all memory foam mattresses will feature temperature sensitivity. That is unfortunate as it is one of the most important features of memory foam. It is really what makes memory foam so incredibly comfortable. If you can afford to buy a memory foam mattress that adjusts to the temperature you will be glad you made the investment.
This features enables the mattress to absorb some of you body heat and soften up to support the key problem areas of your body. When shopping for a memory foam mattress look for a model with a thick enough layer of memory foam along the top. It is best to have one with at least three and a half inches of memory foam. A thin layer of memory foam will not provide the same amount of comfort.
You will also need to look at density when buying a memory foam mattress. When they talk about density of a memory foam mattress they are speaking of the weight per cubic foot of mattress. There is no real agreement about what the best density is. Many retailers will try to sell you on memory foam with a 3 pound density range.
Most people find they get better support for their hips, shoulders, and back with a mattress with a density of between 5.0 lbs and 5.9 lbs. Products that are denser that this often will not give you the desired support. Whatever memory foam product you select be sure that it comes with a warranty. It is common for high quality products to include a warranty of at least 20 years.
